Time for final surge of support for Cliffs of Moher

Just 10 days left to vote in 7 Wonders of Nature competition

Fine Gael Clare Senator, Martin Conway, has called on Irish people at home and abroad to make a special last minute effort to vote for the Cliffs of Moher in the 7 Wonders of Nature competition.

“We’ve got just 10 days left to make sure that as many people as possible vote for the only Irish entry in the 7 Wonders of Nature competition. The Cliffs of Moher have made it to the shortlist of 28 global locations, and we stand a real chance of making it in to the final seven.

“Success would lead to a huge tourism boost; Fáilte Ireland believes winning the competition could bring 35% more overseas visitors to Ireland. This would mean an extra €1.7bn in tourism revenues with a major positive knock on effect on employment.

“The Cliffs of Moher bid has already received endorsements from the Taoiseach, the President Elect, Giovanni Trapattoni and many other well known figures. Now it’s time for the rest of us to make our votes count. The competition was set up by the New 7 Wonders Foundation – a Swiss based Non Profit Organisation. It’s a global online and text voting campaign, with a total of one billion votes expected to be cast.

“We’ve done very well to get this far in the competition. With a bit of extra effort and determination, I believe we can make it onto the final list of natural wonders. People have until 10th November to vote, so I am encouraging everyone to text MOHER to 53131 now.”
