Senator Martin Conway

Martin Conway is a Fine Gael Senator elected to the Administrative Panel in 2011.

He was first elected to Clare County Council in June, 2004, representing the North Clare area.

He was re-elected in 2009, topping the poll.

He first joined Fine Gael whilst at school in Ennistymon, and was very active in Young Fine Gael at UCD, where he graduated with a BA in Economics & Politics.

Martin has received numerous prestigious awards, including the UCD Presidents’ award for Excellence, and the Junior Chamber of Ireland National Young Person of the Year Award.

These were in recognition of his commitment to the community and voluntary sector, and for his campaigning talents and advocacy work, particularly for people with disabilities.

Martin has campaigned tirelessly on behalf of the people of Clare for the provision of tourist facilities, equal access to quality housing, proper infrastructure and a more equitable and environmentally friendly planning process.

He is a councillor with an impressive local and national profile and chaired the Clare County Development Board and Planning, Infrastructure and Transportation SPC, 2010-11.

He is also a member of Fine Gael’s Executive Council, representing councillors, having been elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2009.
